Grinding Principle
InfinigenTM Tissue Mixer Mill comes with pair of rocker arms offering high speed and high amplitude strength mixing and grinding. The grinding jars perform oscillations in horizontal position while the grinding balls impacts and pulverizes on the sample in grinding jars. The movement of the grinding jars combined with the movement of the grinding balls result in the simultaneous intensive mixing of sample. The degree of mixing can be increased even further by using several smaller balls. With higher number of small balls (e.g. glass beads), for example, samples like biological cells most recommended for even disruption. As a function of frequency, up to 1800 pulverization impacts per minute can be achieved delivering high speed homogenized mixing and milling. |
Cryogenic Grinding
InfinigenTM Tissue Mixer Mill can also be used to the thermally-sensitive samples which need
cryogenic grinding. Firstly, place the samples and grinding beads into the stainless steel screw-top grinding jars. Then immerse the jars into the liquid nitrogen.
Upon frozen, fix the grinding jars onto the rapid self-locking clamping device. The screw-top grinding jars are particularly suitable for cryogenic grinding, as they remain hermetically sealed until
return to room temperature. This prevents atmospheric humidity from condensing on the cold sample as water vapor which could penetrate the sample and falsify the analytical results.
(Please note, to avoid damage durign grinding process, jars made from agate or ceramics should not be cooled with liquid nitrogen.)
